Our Plans

The plans are available now!

The plans are not strictly what we built the cabinet to, but they are what we printed out and had on hand as a reference during the build. The changes which happened from those plans largely came from either questionable materials (some of the MDF we purchased was slightly damaged, and needed to be worked around), number rounding (even though all numbers are given in millimetres, and are nice round numbers, some where slightly increased or decreased for ease of marking and memory), or questionable cutting (tracing the drawn lines over long distance with old tools, and not as much practice as would have been useful)

However the plans are true to what we did enough to call them the final version of our 1.0 arcade cabinet.

Please feel free to use, change, and mutilate the plans as much as you want for your own cabinet. If you are going to use them as is, and make your own website, please link to my site so others can find your original source material (as I have done for those I who have provided material which I have used).

With a deadline closing in on us I haven't had the time to make a presentable digital copy of our plans for the cabinet. However rest assured that when I do have time (possibly after I've moved) I will get them made up and online for your viewing pleasure.
In the mean time have a look through other peoples plans available for free online, and keep looking through our progress to see what you think of our design.

Online Plans
As I said on the Home page, there are plenty of cabinet plans available online, and they tend to be fairly easy to find. However good documentation for design and builds of arcade cabinets can be hard to find. There are a lot of websites about it but many are hard to follow and through poor web design skills many are a strain on the eyes to read, making it less likely that you will actually get through them and learn from all the wisdom hidden amongst the instructions and photos.

The top of this Plans page is going to be devoted to cabinet plans which I have found in my searching. Not all of the plans I have found have made their way here, but the ones I have listed are the ones which have had influence on my designs and have provided a good place to begin. My plans will be further down the page, when I come to publish them.

Arcade Paradise

Arcade Paradise has three designs up, and full plans for each. They are a good demonstration of the progression of ideas.
There are explanations of the designs and builds of the cabinets.

Noah's Arkade
Noah's Arkade is a unique website. It shoes plans and the construction of a unique arcade cabinet which brakes from the brightly coloured tradition to deliver a classy wooden cabinet with a simple rotating monitor (for portrait or landscape gaming).

Got 2 Get A Life
Got 2 Get A Life is a hobby arcade builder site. It shows several different styles of cabinet, and some other stuff. Good documentation of planning and testing stages (shows some full size cardboard models). The documentation is pretty good and seems fairly well thought out. Some plans are listed and as with my site it lists some good references (many the same as I have listed). Defiantly worth a look.
